Artist Statement

My paintings reflect an exploration of perception, memory, and states of mind. Transition, movement through time and space, is a central
theme that is woven through the paintings. The work is symbolic. Flowers, landscapes, figures, and non-representational environments are metaphorical, suggesting psychological space or states of mind. There is a sense of searching, of evolving process, that is present in the work.
I value the potential that abstraction provides, leaving space for us to enter into the painting, to imagine, reflect, and determine personal meaning.
